The Traveler/ Message from the Pastor

To Our Graduates:
When you look back on this day and everyday going forward, know that God made it all possible. You may be getting a high school diploma, Associate, Bachelors, Masters, Specialist, or Ph.D., know that God is able. You are joining a select group of individuals, those who are saints, and advocates of education. Know that God is involved. There was a time when there was no school for Blacks, know that God made it possible for all Blacks to, not only attend, but succeed in school.
This select group carries the lamp of knowledge where ever they go. They make the point that God, through Jesus, makes all things possible. Know that God does remind you of something that is very important. Always remember Luke 38:48b: For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask more.
Lastly, the great black civil rights advocate of the late 1800s reminds us that there is a price paid for success, it is called struggle. The poetess Maya Angelou urges us all “to rise”. So I say rise, regardless of others saying you can’t, rise. When you are tried, seemingly defeated, you rise. When the odds say it is insurmountable, you rise. When friends, relatives, and even the enemy speaks of your demise, you rise. One may ask, “why?”. An angle said it best a long time ago, “he is not here (grave), he is risen!” That is why we rise!
